Three illustrations for Arizona Highways about the Exodus Trail: in 1875, both the Yavapai and the Apache people were removed from their Rio Verde reservation in Arizona and force-marched by U.S. soldiers in terrible conditions, nearly 200 miles, to the barren desert of San Carlos. In December 2016, a group of hikers walked the same trail and mapped it with GPS. Thanks to AD Keith Whitney for the great assignment.

Thanks Giovanni De Mauro for the art direction! Two pieces for Internazionale illustrating the story of writer Christian Allaire, who has been detained at the JFK airport in New York. Although his documents certify his First Nations status, indigenous peoples in Canada, some TSA officers doubted him simply because he “doesn’t look Native American”, making him fear deportation.
